Weekly Tech - February 3rd of 2025
Could religion and development be mixed? Maybe we should not ignore SQL queries? What about using LLMs with PHP? Yes, this weekly tech is pretty dense, ready?
Hi everyone, hope you’re all fine?
New week, new weekly tech, this week, PHP is under the spotlight as the topic was vastly discussed recently (at the end, PHP is alive, deal with that), as always, common topics are also presents, time to start?
So, let’s start with common knowledge and a pretty unpopular opinion about religion and why the SQLite guidelines could lead to issues (mostly as religion is something personnel and should not intervene in your coding skills, etc).
Common knowledge
Small switch to database and an “unpopular” opinion about query builders and why you may encounter some issues while using them (my POV is that query builders along with ORMs are an issue, I’m not saying that all of them are an issue but most of the time, they create more issues).
Database
Machine learning is a hot topic and Deepseek is probably the hottest since a few weeks (OpenAI is trying to find how they’ve done it, surprise, they’ve used data, like OpenAI), you can also discover a library that allows using Deepseek with Claude (because why not).
Machine learning
At the end, everything that matter is the country you’re from - X
Could models became our “local” assistant ? Sort of - Youtube
Last topic of the week with PHP et the usage of Mistral API to analyze PDF files, you can also find how the Jolicode team used the MCP protocol to interact with LLMs and more, last topic is about how Laravel is trying “again” to reinvent the wheel (because it’s fun and that javascript do the same thing everyday).
PHP
That’s all for this week, do not hesitate to comment / like this post, the podcast should be out pretty soon (I faced some issues while recording it but nothing too serious), until it’s out, let’s meet again next week, same day, same hour, until then, have a great weekend and a great week.
See you on Friday!
